I have received more details of the road closure and street works on Whittington Road adjacent to the A5. Initially, I had wondered whether the extensive closure would be applied throughout. The details confirm the extent of the work and pedestrian access during the works.
From 1st September 2026, we are proposing to reduce the traffic flow along the A495 to a one-way
traffic system from Whittington onto the A 5 roundabout, in the Easterly direction. Access from the
A5 to Whittington, in the Westerly direction will be closed.
During this period, motorists will be required to follow the signed diversion route which will direct
traffic through Gobowen. Clearly signed diversion routes and traffic management measures will be
provided to assist motorists and maintain access through the area wherever possible.
The traffic management measures are expected to remain in place for approximately 8 weeks,
subject to progress of the works and weather conditions.
We appreciate that these works may cause some inconvenience to local residents, businesses and
road users. The safety of residents, road users and our workforce is our priority, and we will continue
to monitor the traffic management arrangements throughout the works to minimise disruption.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause and thank you for your
patience.
