Eagles win against Saints

This season has been quite frustrating for Eagles fans. The ups and downs have largely been self inflicted. With a clutch of close games where the Eagles lost by 3 points, a handful of plays could have swung those games the other way. The stats tell the story. Not enough plays getting over 20 yards and a reduction of turnovers by the defence. However, it is also clear that the Eagles are not a bad team and was shown by the games against the Patriots and the Cowboys. Yesterday’s convincing win against the Saints was more evidence that the Eagles are already well placed for next season.

The the Eagles fired on all cylinders yesterday.

  • McNabb showed his true colours executing things well - buying time outside the pocket with his legs and getting things done in the passing game. He completed 24 of 35 passes for 263 yards and three touchdowns, compiling a passer rating of 119.1.
  • Brian Westbrook excelled as he has all season – running for 100 yards in the game and taking him to 2,005 total yards from scrimmage for the season so far. Two shy of breaking the all time club record.
  • Kevin Curtis passes a 1000 receiving yards for the season
  • The defence powered through out  and the rookie class showed what the future will hold going forward.

After some torrid depressing performances, the last 3 weeks have certainly lifted my spirits. Roll on 2008.
