New England free-agent cornerback Asante Samuel is visiting the Philadelphia Eagles today. It has just been announced that he has signed a 6 year, $57 million, deal to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. (See: nfl.com & philadephiaeagles.com)
This is a huge deal and the Eagles Defence must now be in the box seat to be the number one Defence. The Eagles Struggled with their turnover ratio last season. Asante had 16 interceptions in the last two years. Many pundits have speculated that Asante is the best free agent available in this years free agency.
This move now opens up a host of possibilities for the Eagles through free agency to the draft. Exiting times. Probably not for Lito Shepard who has already been supplanted in the depth chart by this move. A Shepard trade is now a possibility.
